A table of three games: one PS3 game, one PSN game, and one more recent PS4 game that display not only the difference in price over each time period, but the difference between games from different platforms as well. In the images below you can see how it used to work. That option was later ditched, so it's the subscription fee or nothing. In the beginning, there was the option to rent games as needed from the PlayStation Now store, rather than pay a monthly subscription fee. What's most notable about this, though, isn't just the saving, but how it drags down the price to match Microsoft's competing Xbox Games Pass service, which costs $9.99/£7.99 per month. For US gamers, that's a half-price difference, while UK players would have still been saving a neat £48 over the course of the year. Knowing full well that prices and dollar signs are what sinks ships, pricing is one area that Sony has given special attention to over the last year of PlayStation Now's existence. PlayStation Now could offer the biggest and best games from the company's 20-year foray into game consoles, but if the pricing isn't right, none of it will matter. Unlike Xbox Game Pass, it doesn't offer the latest AAA games, but it does offer a convenient way to access a library of old titles that are either hard to get hold of, or just a way to test titles without a market-price barrier. That offering has certainly improved over time: just like Sony's PlayStation Plus subscription, which offers a handful of free games for download each month, PS Now treads the line between desirable games and those that are just about going out of fashion. ![]() But the variety offered here should be enough to please a diverse set of tastes. I don't know anyone lining up to play Heavy Fire: Shattered Spear or Jimmie Johnson's Anything with Wheels, and while I'm sure someone really enjoys Wheel of Fortune and Frogger HD, it's not me. Sadly, not every game is worthwhile: some of the hundreds of games are clearance pile fodder, and have been for the past few years. In addition, PlayStation Now offered PC players the chance to play Bloodborne for the first time – as the title has always been a PlayStation exclusive. Of course, you won't be able to download it to your PC, but can stream it via the cloud. Not to mention the Batman Arkham trilogy, Until Dawn, Borderlands, Bioshock: Infinite, and Ultra Street Fighter IV. ![]() ![]() ![]() Games like Saints Row 3, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, Darksiders and Catherine are all up for grabs, while Sony provides a few platform exclusives, like Ico, Shadow of the Colossus and Ratchet and Clank, that are excellent as well. At last count, PlayStation Now had more than 800 games available to stream, and many of them – PS4 and PS2 titles – are available to download. They range in value and prestige from some of the must-play games of the last generation, like The Last of Us, to small indie darlings, to some completely forgettable, bargain bin fodder.īut the decent titles are worth the price of entry, though it's worth bearing in mind they tend to change every few months.

In 2018 at the age of 13, she performed on Sweden’s Got Talent and earned the coveted golden buzzer, which was just the start of her musical career. Growing up in Gothenburg, Sweden, Paula first discovered her fascination with music as a child, taking up violin at just three and developing her multidimensional musicality over the years as she learned piano and sang in the church choir. Puckish yet sassy closer “ Rude Girl” finds Paula channeling the alter-ego that contradicts the other version of herself heard throughout the EP as she faces the internal conflicts of loneliness as she tears down the people around her. In “ Someone Always Knows,” slow-burning riffs soar into cathartic bursts that give you the sonic space to linger in your emotions while sparkling pop track “ Breaking Up With A Friend” addresses the complex yet inevitable friendship breakup we all experience at some point and the subsequent heartache that follows. Chill-pop track, “ Say That,” suspends its listeners into a hypnotic atmosphere where the lyrics address the haunting and inexplicable feeling of missing something despite having everything you need. The 5-track EP opens with debut single “ What Are You Hungry For” where Paula encourages her listeners to find new meaning and joy in their lives over the dreamy production. Each track features production from different producers - Jason Suwito (Sir Sly, K.Flay, MisterWives), Elvira Anderfjärd (Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Tove Lo), Her Demons, Åke Olofsson (Den Svenska Björnstammen), and Jarly (Adam Lambert, Sigala) - to highlight her breadth as a creative, not only in her writing but in her sound as well. However, with some quick Googling I found a link to the Activate your PayPal security key page from my previous article, and it still works (and looks) like it did in the past! This raises the question, why bother with this? In the past several years, many websites have implemented 2FA using TOTP apps, so I think most people are probably better off using it instead of Symantec VIP. This is a feature PayPal apparently added in 2019. Unsurprisingly, the instructions I wrote in 2013 to set up the Symantec VIP app on PayPal no longer work… or do they? On the current PayPal website, someone who navigates to Settings, Security, 2-step verification, and clicks Add a device, will only have the choice to set up a TOTP app such as Google Authenticator or Authy. But it’s March December 2020 and it’s time to take another look at the state of 2FA on PayPal. I later switched to a free soft token, specifically the Symantec VIP app, which I wrote about back in 2013. I’ve been using 2FA on PayPal since 2007, when they introduced the feature with a modestly priced physical token. Development teams don't have to experience security as "yet another tool" or as "yet another process" that slows things down. This approach could finally help security make a significant impact on reducing risk for cloud-native software development. If there are issues, the security team should track them back to dev owners and establish policies and templates so that they don't repeat the same mistakes. Developers should leverage APIs to integrate security solutions into the tools they already use while giving security teams visibility into what has been tested and fixed. This shift weaves security into the existing CI/CD processes. By testing Terraform and CloudFormation for security before execution, just as they would test their application code for quality and reliability, developers can make any fixes before committing code to production - where it could affect customers and result in data loss. To quote Bilbo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings, "I feel thin, sort of stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread."Ī modern shift-left approach shifts security responsibilities to those creating software, the developers, and it shifts it to the beginning of the process when the developers are provisioning infrastructure. This model simply does not scale when companies are confronting modern decentralized development. I'd estimate that the current industry ratio sits around 1.5 security experts per 100 software engineers. Large development teams (DevOps, SREs, developers) that are armed with CI/CD and IaC are unstoppable. On top of this, in most organizations I've worked with, security is vastly outgunned in headcount. All of these tasks are costly and time-intensive. These experts may be available for a plethora of tasks: "threat modeling" new architectures, defining security features, consulting on risk priority, training up security champions and such. Inserting security into development has also traditionally meant hiring and deploying software security experts into development teams. It requires pauses between deploys to complete security scans, and then it requires time for remediation activity to catch up. ![]() It's a frustrating process that was designed to work in slow multistep release cycles with defined approval gates. You can run a static analysis of application code and dynamic analysis of live applications, generate reports, pummel your ticketing systems for remediation work, and curse at false positives. ![]() You can try to catch vulnerabilities and misconfigurations before they are exploited to reduce the risk of breaches in production. Last generation's shift-left security has been trying to shift left for years. The problem is that by this point, these problems can be difficult and costly to fix. These problems manifest at runtime, where security teams have good visibility with solutions that detect configuration problems. Rapid deployment of IaC by multiple developers of varying skill and experience levels means there's a high chance for mistakes. The problem is that there is often little to no room for traditional security intervention in this development process. Software provisioned with IaC can go from developer laptops to clouds to customers in seconds. The power and scale of modern software development cycles adds a new risk dimension to security. If they want to make changes or tear down the infrastructure, they code it, test it and then deploy the changes. This has shifted DevOps left and allowed developers to provision their own infrastructure using software development practices such as writing, testing and executing code. ![]() ![]() ![]() It's all short fill in there-very little reward for the briefly harrowing experience of going in in the first place.
