Our sincere thanks to Laura Reeves for leading us to Michele Gawenka who, in turn, lead us to the right photo credit information. The second, and equally amazing photo is credited to Kyon Kennel (Toronto, Canada). Image: The remarkable photo at the top appears courtesy of Wendy Andrews of Catcombe Golden Retrievers in England. In fact, a broad range of color from light to dark shades can be found in puppies born in same litter. “Good ones” do their due diligence with pedigrees, health tests, good nutrition and socialization color takes a back seat to soundness and breed type. We circle back to the all important breeder. Any dogs within this range of colour should be considered equally, based on their merits, including balance, head type, movement and structure.” It’s worth your time to read more on this topic from the Golden Retriever Club of Canada here. While a medium gold is always correct, coat colour can range from cream to a darker coppery gold. The Golden Retriever Club of Canada also expands upon the color issue in their Illustrated Breed Standard: “The acceptable range of colour in the Golden Retriever is broad. ![]() That said, the color has been enough of a question for the Golden Retriever Club of America to have addressed it head on and you can read the club’s statement here. In the end, here’s what matters: There is only one Golden Retriever breed, and it’s governed by the breed standard endorsed by various recognized kennel clubs all over the world. Perhaps it’s a stretch, but in the early 2oth century, dog shows in Britain were held in England, and in the United States, champions of those dog shows were referred to as “English Champions.” One hundred years later, did we get used to calling them “English” Cream Golden Retrievers? Were those dogs even lighter colored? We are reminded of the telephone game in which information gets twisted as it goes from one “caller” to another leading to a message that is very different from the original. So is the notion that the color is unique to England. Uneducated puppy buyers may be mistaken into believing – or even be persuaded – that a pale light-colored Golden Retriever is a unique variety of a beloved breed, but they should know that is simple fiction. Like the “tea cup” size of breeds we’ve discussed elsewhere on this site, the “English Cream Golden Retriever” is a marketing ploy. We grew suspicious that if we looked longer, we would have found a breeder claiming that their English Creams could balance a checkbook.īuyer beware. Another suggested that English Cream Goldens live longer than other types of Goldens, and a few others we visited stated that the “English Cream” Golden Retriever is more good-natured than darker colors, sheds less than others, and is less prone to cancer. One site we found flat out says that the English Cream Golden Retriever is a variety of the breed, and that one of its principal characteristics is a thinner coat. So what does it mean when an article or an Internet site specifically mentions “cream-colored Golden Retriever puppies?” Is this a separate breed? Is it really rare? Does the color suggest a better temperament, better genes, better anything? To be clear, the Golden Retriever’s AKC standard states, “Rich, lustrous golden of various shades, and the Canadian Kennel Club breed standard reads, “Lustrous golden of various shades, ranging from cream to darkest gold.” The CKC’s Illustrated Standard expands on this which we share further below. Have you seen websites of people who claim to “specialize” in these colors as if they were rare, unusual (and pricier)? Do you know someone who says they have an “English Cream Golden Retriever?” How about a “rare white European Golden Retriever” or a “Platinum retriever? “ See Squarespace’s Best Deals FAQ Does Mobirise have free templates? There are only five free Mobirise themes. ![]() You don’t want to end up having to rebuild your site from scratch. I wouldn’t recommend getting started with Mobirise before you check out the other top website builders that are available. On the other hand, Squarespace provides access to all its themes along with numerous other useful features, even with its most basic plan. However, many other website builders also provide these features, so these selling points from Mobirise may not be as thrilling. Mobirise does offer a few advantages: it’s user-friendly for beginners, all its themes are mobile-responsive, and editing and customizing your site is relatively easy. To get more, you have to purchase each theme individually or subscribe to a yearly plan for access to all of them. The basic site editor is free but includes a very limited number of themes. In terms of value, Mobirise isn’t the worst website builder on the market, but it’s definitely not the best. If you’re thinking of building an online store, for instance, or if you’re in need of email marketing and SEO tools for your website, Squarespace can offer you much more. You can use Mobirise to create something simple, like a landing page or a one-page website, but don’t expect this builder to satisfy any website need you may have. Mobirise isn’t necessarily a bad choice, but there are better choices out there that offer greater value with fewer limitations. The web-based Squarespace offers much better features – and hosting, a domain name, and everything else you need are all included in Squarespace’s plans. Ultimately, Mobirise isn’t a terrible builder, but unless you prefer to work on your website offline, using an app instead of an online builder isn’t worth the headaches. Other website builders offer you a one-stop-shop for all your website needs. Mobirise’s premium features are simply themes and extensions, not hosting plans. However, custom domain hosting isn’t provided, so you’ll need to buy this service separately from a web host. Mobirise has several publishing options, including publishing to a. In 2023, there’s really no reason to be working this way. You have to re-import the project into each computer’s app every time you switch machines. It really disappointed me to discover that there’s no way of synching versions, either. If you regularly use multiple computers, you’ll quickly get very frustrated by this process. The only way to get around this problem is to copy the projects folder from the application library on your computer, and then manually import it into the Mobirise app on another computer (after you install the app there, too). With Mobirise, you can only edit your site on the computer where you installed the app. With a web-based website builder, you can edit your website from any computer, anywhere in the world. ![]() That’s bad for all kinds of reasons, including SEO issues.īecause Mobirise is an offline app, there are additional problems. If you forget this step, visitors won’t be able to find your new pages. For example, new pages are not automatically added to your site’s navigation menu you have to add them manually. On the plus side, all Mobirise themes are mobile responsive, so they do look good on smartphones and tablets.Īlso, while Mobirise uses a drag-and-drop editor and content blocks and it doesn’t require any coding skills, the app is not really beginner-friendly. That’s a tiny number compared to website builders like Squarespace, which offers over a hundred templates. First, there are only five free website themes with Mobirise. There are some downsides to Mobirise that you need to know about. When I tried, I received an Apple notification that the app couldn’t be installed because it couldn’t be scanned for malware. First of all, if you’re a Mac user, beware: If you’re running MacOS Catalina (10.15) or later, you might not be able to install the app. Mobirise is unlike any of the website builders we tested, and not necessarily in a good way.
